Speed Up Internet ExplorerMicrosoft Internet Explorer Registry Speed Tweak:

This tweak will work with ALL Windows 95/98/NT4/2000/ME/XP/2003 releases with MS Internet Explorer 4/5/6 installed on your system. This Registry will increase the speed of Windows Explorer and/or Internet Explorer browsing process considerably on MS Windows 32-bit machines.

This fix functions by addressing a bug (surprise) in windows client networking which assumes ALL of your computers are connected to other PC’s on a network, and thus requires your PC to search for other machines when you open your browser to surf the internet.

WARNING: You Must backup your registry before making Any changes in case you run into a problem when running this tweak. We always advocate that you shouldn’t mess with the windows registry manually, this tweak has worked without problem here in the lab. Nevertheless, proceed at your own risk…

Steps:

1. Copy & Paste these instructions into notepad, and then close ALL instances of Internet Explorer that are currently running on your system.

2. Run Regedit & go to: to run regedit –> Start –> Run –> Type: regedit.exe –> OK)

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ RemoteComputer \ NameSpace

3. You will see the following SubKey in the left hand pane {D6277990-4C6A-11CF-8D87-00AA0060F5BF} highlight it, then right click on it, then select delete, and wait! Then click Yes or OK.

4. Close all open internet explorer browser windows again and restart Internet Explorer, you should notice the IE speed boost immediately.

-Tomorrow we’ll discuss a few easy tweaks you can make to speed up Firefox browsers.

Nothing bites worse than having access to broadband internet, and still getting slow download/upload speeds! Well, SpeedGuide.net has developed such a tool, and it is called the TCP Optimizer. The TCP Optimizer is a free, easy Windows program that gives you a simple operating interface for tuning and optimizing your Internet connection. There is no installation required, just download and run.

The program will help both the novice and advanced computer user to tweak their TCP/IP settings in the windows registry (backup first) making it easy to tweak your system specifically for the type of internet connection you use. This tool uses some advanced algorithms, and will seek out the best TCP window for your connection speed. You can adjust all of the necessary TCP/IP settings like MTU, RWIN and more advanced ones like ToS/Diffserv and Qos priorities. This program will work with all current versions of windows and includes other tools that allow you to test latencies over multiple hosts, and finding the largest packet size (MTU).

The TCP Optimizer is geared towards broadband internet connections, however it can be helpful with tuning any internet connection type, from dialup to Gigabit+
